Shahid Sohel Rana’s elder brother, Liton, attempted a sensational act of fraud. He tried to collect a financial aid cheque from the July Shahid Smriti Foundation by falsely presenting his friend’s wife as Shahid Sohel Rana’s widow. However, the foundation’s authorities quickly saw through the deception. Following the incident, the foundation conducted an investigation and confirmed that Liton and his associates had deliberately used a fake identity to misappropriate funds. Upon gathering solid evidence of their fraud, the foundation members initially considered taking legal action. However, at the special request of Shahid Sohel Rana’s mother, the fraudsters were released after signing a written statement of confession.

শহীদ রহমত মিয়া ছিলেন একজন সাহসী সংগ্রামী, বৈষম্য বিরোধী ছাত্র আন্দোলনে অংশ নিয়ে মাওনা চৌরাস্তায় শাহাদত বরণ করেন। দুপুরে মিছিলে যোগ দেওয়ার জন্য বাসা থেকে বের হওয়ার পর আর তার কোনো খোঁজ পাওয়া যায়নি। রাত ১০ টার দিকে আলহেরা মেডিক্যাল সেন্টারে তার মৃতদেহ পাওয়া যায়। রহমত মিয়া ছিলেন তার পরিবারের একমাত্র উপার্জনকারী। তার উপার্জনেই চলতো পুরো সংসার, অথচ তিনি দেশের জন্য নিজের জীবন উৎসর্গ করেছিলেন। তার মৃত্যু দেশের স্বাধীনতায় একটি অমর অধ্যায় হিসেবে পরিগণিত হয়। রহমত মিয়ার আত্মত্যাগ আমাদেরকে স্বাধীনতা অর্জনে তার অবদান ও সাহসিকতার কথা স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়। তিনি হারিয়ে গেলেও তার আত্মত্যাগ আজও আমাদের প্রেরণা দেয়। Martyr Rahmat Mia was a courageous fighter who sacrificed his life for the anti-discrimination student movement, becoming a martyr at Maona Chourasta. He left his home in the afternoon to join the procession, but after that, there was no trace of him. His body was found at Alhera Medical Center around 10 PM. Rahmat Mia was the sole breadwinner of his family, and his earnings sustained the entire household. Despite this, he dedicated his life to the country’s cause.
